Poddabie is a quiet, seaside resort before the peak season. There are no crowds of tourists then and the beach is empty, so you can enjoy the silence and beautiful landscape to your heart's content.
The cliff in Poddabie is, next to Gdynia’s Orlowo, the most impressive example of this type of coast in our region. Its height here reaches 40 m. The views from both the edge and the beach are unparalleled. A two-hour walk will allow you to see everything that is best in this area.
You can start the trip at the square in the heart of Poddabie. There are tourist shelters, shops and bars here. The sea is reached by a forest path that ends with stairs to the beach.
Following the seashore towards the east, after a dozen or so minutes you can reach the remains of a Danish torpedo boat that landed here during World War II. The wreck is located just a few meters from the shore and its elements protrude above the water surface. Bathing in this place is prohibited, as indicated by the information boards.
The main route of the walk, however, leads west. On the way, we pass the “sunken forest”, i.e. the remains of an old coastal forest, the relics of which have been preserved in the form of dried-out tree stumps. This is the second such place in the Pomorskie Voivodeship. A similar phenomenon can be seen in the vicinity of Czolpino.
Following west, the beach begins to narrow and the cliff increasingly reveals its charms. Here and there, the snow-white sand gives way to colorful pebbles, creating fragments of a stony beach.
At the height of entrance to the beach no. 13, you can go to the edge of the cliff to admire the coast from above the high cliff, cut in this place by a picturesque ravine. The edges of the gorge are connected by a footbridge, which makes it easier to overcome the natural obstacle.
It is also a great viewpoint. However, the most beautiful views are served by the red hiking trail, which leads along the edge of the cliff. The views here are unparalleled. From here, you can walk back to Poddabie or go on a longer trip towards Orzechowo and Ustka.
