The Leon Stankiewicz Tenement House

Stories about how the tenement house was built, about its resident and owners are effectively presented in display cabinets located in the gateway. Here you can see the oldest lift in Gdynia – its unique openwork shaft was installed in the “soul” of the stairs – and the lift is still in use! Long elevation of the building was built in the functional convention, which was a novelty at the time, and is decorated with three symmetrically arranged vertical sections of trapezoid bay windows topped with small terraces. Rows of windows are connected by means of window ledges in a group rhythm. It is worth mentioning that the tenement house, thanks to its owners and residents, belongs to the most neatly decorated objects during celebrations and holidays (national, religious and local). This building is on Gdynia modernism route.
