According to an old legend, the rise of this village was due to refugees from Wolin who, after the invasion of the Danish on the city in the 9th century, were forced to flee, they set out on a journey in search of their new place on earth. They found it here in Rowy. Today, after more than a thousand years, Rowy still remain a place where a newcomer can find peace and a bit of space for himself.

The location of the village undoubtedly consists of its unique appeal. From the north the village prides itself on the beautiful wide beach with a 30 meters high cliff, while on the south and east Rowy borders the Slowinski National Park, listed by the UNESCO to the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. At the entrance to the SNP visitors can learn about the shifting sand dunes and existing here fauna and flora in the small Natural Park Museum. In the close area of the Park and Rowy there is also Gardno Lake perfect for windsurfing and sailing fans.

Although Rowy is a very old village, with a long and interesting history, to our own time there have not survived virtually no historic buildings. In fact, the oldest historical building is a neo-Romanesque church of 19th century, built from glacial boulders and stones. It has an interesting black stone built into one of the walls of the building, around which over the years accumulated some legends. One of them tells the story of a bet between a fisherman and the devil. The fisherman to save his endangered soul, set a condition – he will give his soul to the devil, if the devil builds in the village a church before roosters crow announcing the dawn. The Devil agreed to the bet , gathered all the other demons and began the construction. The construction went so fast that the devil would get a poor little Fisherman soul to the eternal torment in hell, but the fisherman outwit the devil and he crowed like a rooster himself, and then followed his crowing all the roosters. Enraged devil set fire to the building and escaped. After the incident what was left was a black stone, which has been built into the wall of the church and still adorns it.

Rowy has a wide range of accommodation. Tourists can relax in elegant holiday resorts, boarding houses, private homes or are at the campsite.

In the summer it hosts many cultural events (the biggest of them is National Mascots Meeting) and tourist attractions, such as, among others. amusement park, miniature golf, go-kart and bike rentals or fishing boat trip on the Baltic Sea. Active guests can enjoy a tour around many bicycle paths there. Rowy is also an excellent base for many other interesting places, such as the open-air museum in Kluki and numerous museums and monuments of Ustka and Slupsk.

After a busy day the holiday makers can satisfy their hunger at the local restaurants and fish frying joints serving regional dishes ranging from traditional Polish cuisine to more sophisticated. Rowy is a great place for all who wish to take a break from the hustle and bustle of civilization, while not sacrificing the comfort. Rowy also called “Polish Riviera” combine the calm atmosphere of a seaside village with attractions for everyone.
