The city, and at the same time the capital of Nowy Dwor County, is located in the area of the Great Low Lands, on the Tuga River. Tczew is located halfway between Gdansk and Elblag, on the S7 road.
From the pages of history.
- Initially, the area belonged to the Duchy of Pomorskie, from the XIIIth to the XVth century it was owned by the Teutonic Order, and after the end of the 13-year war, it was incorporated into Poland.
- Nowy Dwor Gdanski received city rights in 1880 from Emperor Wilhelm I. In 1920, the Free City of Gdansk was established, which also included Nowy Dwor Gdanski.
Stobbes Machandel
In 1776, the Stobbes Machandel vodka factory was established in Nowy Dwor Gdanski, where the famous machandel juniper vodka was produced until 1945. Peter Stobbe’s gravestone, in the form of a cippus, is located in the cemetery in the village of Orlowo.

Drawbridge and water tower
While walking through the city streets, it is worth paying attention to the historic drawbridge from 1936, as well as the water tower from 1909, which is 30 m high and is located in the city park at Tuwim Street.
Church of St. Transfiguration of the Lord
Built in 1850 and consecrated in 1951, the neo-Gothic church was designed by the Gdansk architect Klopsh. Built on a rectangular plan, with no orientation, with a tower embedded in the roof from the north and a separate chancel from the south. The interior is in the neo-Gothic style. In the main altar a painting of the Transfiguration of the Lord from 1872 and figures of the patrons of the diocese – Saints Andrew and Adalbert.
