The structure is also equipped to organise theatrical and cinema spectacles, concerts, exhibitions, conferences and symposiums. The Arena has numerous restaurants, bars and pubs. It can accommodate 11 thousand people (15 thous. with the standing places on the pitch). It’s an indoor arena that can accommodate the largest number of people in Poland.
The opening of the Arena featured a men’s volleyball match between the national teams of Poland and Brasil. Poland defeated Canarinhos 3-2. The Arena also hosted the finalists of the volleyball World League. Russians turned out to be the best during this event, defeating Brasilians in the final. Poland took third place, achieving the best result in the history of this competition.
The Arena also hosted the 2011 Women’s European Championship in Basketball and the European Championship in Table Tennis. In 2012, it will host the Men’s European Championship in Volleyball.
So far, Ergo Arena has featured such stars as Lady Gaga, Sting, Erykah Badu, Rammstein and Ozzy Osbourne. There are also concerts of Micheal Buble and ROXETTE scheduled to take place in the near future.
