Situated on the north-west edge of Krynica Morska, the Camel's Hump is the highest point on the Vistula Spit, as well as the largest fixed dune in Europe.
It takes no longer than a 40-minute walk from the city centre to get to the Hump and climb its 49.5-metre-high peak overlooking both the Baltic Sea and the Vistula Lagoon.
Nowadays, one can only dream of witnessing the sights that can be seen on the historical picture postcards (i.a. from 1905), as the area is quite heavily vegetated. The name of the dune can be attributed to the fact that it is shaped like 2 camel humps when looked at from Gdańsk Bay.
