VILLA SEDAN ** (hotel)

The building has been standing since 1874 and has a very rich history. Initially, the property at 18-20 Pułaskiego Street was one of fourteen Polish guest houses located in Sopot. With time, the owners changed, and with them the nature of the villa, which was transformed into the Mewa boarding house for males after 1945. During this time, it hosted the founders of the legendary Bim Bom Theatre- Jacek Fedorowicz, Zbyszek Cybulski and Bogumił Kobiela. Over the years, the boarding house was visited by numerous students with artistic aspirations, right until the year 1997, when the new owner of the building decided to subject the property at 18-20 Pułaskiego Street to extensive renovation. In love with the unique history of this place, enchanted by its unquestionable charm, in 2002 she gave back part of the former spirit of the city to the Sopot citizens. This is how the present Villa Sedan was born. For 10 years, it has been enchanting connoisseurs of silence, peace and fine cuisine.

When you enter the Villa Sedan, you are under the impression that you have just entered one of the decadent cafes of the Czech Prague, the place where Hrabal wrote his description of service to the English King. The walls decorated with golden paintings, the Art Nouveau bar lines and the wooden furniture designed in the style of old Sopot provide a uniquely intimate atmosphere, in contrast to the nearby clubs.

Besides the atmosphere of the old piano and wooden floor garnished with a note of decadence, it is also recommended to take a look at the menu of the Villa Sedan restaurant. The menu is dominated by traditional Polish dishes, modernised by the Chef, and fish prepared from those caught that morning. The cooks are continuously improving their culinary choice, preparing fancy variations of the specials embedded in the human psyche. The newest art of the chef is a pork loin roulade stuffed with thymus and boletus in blackberry sauce. One version of the dish, combining the taste of venison with a note of veal thymus, was awarded first place in this year’s 9th edition of National Culinary Encounters. The Chef of the Villa Sedan restaurant captured the hearts of the jury with his innovative preparation of deer leg. The unquestionably rich menu is complemented with breakfast variations. Besides the traditional continental breakfast,guests can enjoy several types of cakes baked every morning, fritters, and crepes with succulent filling. Furthermore, guests can order gluten-free and vegan meals, as well as those not on the menu, following prior consultation with the Chef, who is famous for his openness.
