The lake is located on the Słowińskie Coast, in the western part of the Słowiński National Park protection zone. The lake is 6.6 km long, and it has a width of 1.2 km. The main towns located by the lake are Nowęcin and Przybrzeże. The Chełst River flows through Sarbsko, connecting it to Łebsko Lake.
Some 0.4 k, from the north-eastern shore of the lake, on the spit, there is a dune called Piaszczysta Góra (Sandy Mountain).
