The Anchorsmiths’ Tower (Baszta Kotwiczników) in Gdańsk

After moving the exterior line of the Gdańsk fortifications, it lost its military significance. Between 1570 and 1575, Paulus van der Horne rebuilt the building into a town prison for dangerous criminals (slightly raising the roof).

During World War II, the tower was almost completely destroyed and was reconstructed in 1968-1969.
