What would the Tri-City be without beautiful beaches that stretch from Sobieszewo to Babie Doly? Tri-City beaches and bathing areas invite you to their sandy thresholds at any time of the year.
Sometimes it seems that the Tri-City coastal belt is a completely different land – without cars, without the hustle and bustle of the city, with clean air and this characteristic smell of the wind. Life goes on here with its own rhythm determined by the sound of waves, sunrise and sunset.
Seaside lifestyle
Tri-city beaches are full of walkers all year round, but they are most vibrant in summer. Bicycle paths are full of cyclists, rollerblades, rickshaws or people who travel the world on scooters and skateboards. The Tri-City coastal belt can be easily overcome from Brzezno to Sopot Kamienny Potok. It is a 7.5-kilometer route, which you can also go on foot – along the sea or a promenade located among the fragrant forest.
The Gdansk and Sopot coastal belt has numerous pubs, bars, bistros and restaurants. Where, if not here, taste the delicious sea fish? In season, there are also bars located directly on the beach. There are some people who prefer the climate of Tri-City beaches than the one they saw in the Caribbean!
During the day lounging in the sun, in the evenings beach parties or … workouts! Yes! The beach is a great place for sports. Tri-City bathing resorts offer beach volleyball courts and a space where You can dance … zumba! Zumba marathons on the beach are extremely popular and, most importantly, anyone can take part in them.
In the summer, the beach is often the site of various sports championships, not only related to beach volleyball, but also dedicated to football or rugby.
You can’t forget about numerous water attractions – windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, swimming competitions – we have everything at your fingertips.
Safe beaches
In the season, and therefore at the beginning of the holiday, Tri-City bathing areas are regularly guarded by lifeguards. On the beaches you can see the rescue towers, from where the rescuers watch what is happening in the water. A lot can happen there. Inattentive sunbathers often disregard the rules and have no rules whatsoever. And there is only one truth and you should always have it in the back of your head: do not risk in water! Bathing should always be used with caution and only when a lifeguard is on the tower and a white flag is fluttering on the mast (bath allowed). When a red flag appears on the mast, do not enter the water!
But white and red flags are not everything. Blue flags are waving proudly over the Tri-City beaches. These are the highest-rank certificates confirming the quality of bathing water and an environmentally friendly approach to sunbathing. The blue flag is an international “decoration” – it can be found in many European countries, but only on the cleanest beaches. Blue flags are awarded each year by the Foundation for Environmental Education, and so far regularly flown, among others at the bathing resorts in Gdansk Sobieszewo and Jelitkowo or Gdynia Central.
Those who do not like sand will appreciate the opportunity to walk on the pier. And we have three in the Tri-City, each different: a pier in Gdansk Brzezno, a pier in Sopot and a pier in Gdynia Orlowo. Anyway, the last district, Orlowo, is one of the most picturesque and charming in the entire Tri-City area. Climate like the beginning of the twentieth century, artistic atmosphere and an amazing cliff in Orlowo, from which extends a fantastic panorama of the Gulf of Gdansk. You just have to see it!
And what is the climate of other Tri-City bathing areas? Check it out for yourself!
