The Nizinna Gate was built in 1626 according to the design of Jan Strakowski. It owes its name to the location in the lowlands south of downtown.
The building is located between the St. Gertrude and Bison bastions in the Old Town. The gate has been almost completely preserved since the uprising. It has three tunnels, two smaller ones used by pedestrians and the middle one for vehicles.
From the side of the south facade, the passageways have a decorative stone frame. The external north facade is decorated with four pilasters in the Tuscan style.
There is a storey above the gate with superstructures with windows on both sides, the peaks of which are built in the Netherland style. Besides the original appearance, it also has authentic doorframes with iron bosses and locks.
