The Philharmonic Building

Filharmonia Kaszubska was built on the site of the previous Wejherowo Cultural Center building.

The facility, with an area of 6,500 m², is located at the intersection of Sobieskiego and Dworcowa Streets in Wejherowo and was opened in 2013. It was designed in a unique, modern architectural style – the building resembles a ship, with its glass structure cutting through the foyer, while the interior spaces, finished with wood and an acoustic ceiling, evoke a maritime atmosphere.

On the “deck” of the ship, located on the roof of the building, there is a viewing terrace. In the foyer of the Philharmonic, guests are welcomed by a fountain, and sculptures representing the various fields of art in which the Wejherowo Cultural Center is involved are placed around the building.

What’s inside

Filharmonia Kaszubska, which serves as the headquarters of the Wejherowo Cultural Center, consists of two main zones.

One part of the building features a modern, multifunctional hall with a capacity of nearly 400 people. It serves as a venue for concerts, cinema screenings, theater performances, shows, and lectures.

The second module of the building houses a cultural center with a rich program offering for children, youth, and adults. It includes spaces dedicated to artistic sections that are part of the institution’s ongoing educational activities.

In the basement, there are two intimate cinema rooms, functioning as a film study center, with the possibility of presenting themed film blocks.

Wejherowo Cultural Center

It is an organization whose activities are best described by the word… multifunctionality. It carries out its mission of promoting culture and artistic education through numerous educational activities, artistic groups, workshops, and amateur movements in various fields of art. In the building of Filharmonia Kaszubska, which serves as the institution’s headquarters, dance, visual arts, music, vocal, theater, photography, and sports classes take place, as well as courses in ceramics, film animation, and robotics. As a result, independent productions, performances, and concerts are created, for which tickets sell out in the blink of an eye.

Filharmonia Kaszubska also engages in impresario activities. The stage hosts a wide range of performances – from symphonic concerts to mainstream music, theater productions, operas, and choreographic groups from both Poland and abroad. In addition, the gallery regularly showcases exhibitions by renowned artists from across Poland and beyond.
