The Szpęgawski Forest

The Szpęgawski Forest was the last earthly sight afforded to the 7 thousand residents of Kociewie and the neighbouring lands, who were murdered here by the Nazis. Most of the victims came from the Polish intelligentsia – they were social and political activists – but the murdered also included mentally-ill patients from the nearby asylum in Kocborowo.
