Made of brick, the church has Gothic features, while the furnishing elements are predominantly Baroque. The decor components worth particular attention include the pulpit in the shape of a sailboat, with a large anchor and St. Peter holding a fish net, both leaning over it; and a baptismal font in the shape of a whale with Jonah leaning out of its belly and holding a liturgical vessel for baptismal water. The year 1997 saw the church elevated to the rank of the Our Lady of Consolation Shrine. The local object of cult is a Gothic Madonna and Child dating back to 1380.
