The Makary Gliszczyński Tenement House

Two-coloured terrazzo floor with initials of the house owner is still there. The architect, Władysław Madeła, designed the house in late functionalist style, and combined aerodynamic forms with cubic ones. The main characteristic feature of the tenement house is its asymmetrical corner part with the semicircular part with deep loggias transforming into a cubic style wing from the Abrahams Street’s side by means of two offsets. In the offset roof there used to be a terrace (converted into porches in the 70’s). The ground floor built on pillars, following the rule of “the free facade”, used to house shops and a wide gateway. This building is on Gdynia modernism route.
