The Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre

The Gdańsk Shakespeare Theater was established in the place where the School of Fencing functioned from the beginning of the 17th century - the first public theater of the then Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Currently, one of the most unusual theaters in the world, inspired by the old Elizabethan theater, is located here.

we invite you to the only theater in the world with an opening roof, which takes only 3 minutes to open! The building, considered one of the greatest works of architecture in recent years, is covered with over 1 million anthracite bricks and brick cobblestones, and its wooden interior takes viewers back to the times of Shakespeare. It is the only theater in Poland to stage performances on the Elizabethan stage. It can accommodate up to 1,000 guests, depending on the arrangement of the hall and the type of event.
