The first historical mentions of Starbienino date back to the mid-15th Century and describe a Kashubian estate belonging to the family of Schinburen. From the mid-17th Century Starbienino often changed hands. Between 1871 and 1945 it belonged to the affluent Hammer family. After the war it became the property of the State; its users included the Planting and Seeding Company and the RSW “Prasa – Książka – Ruch” publishing company. In 1995 the manor-park complex was handed over to the Kashubian Folk University in Wieżyca, which returned the historic site to its former splendour and opened its branch and training centre here.
Starbienino’s attraction is the surrounding landscape – part of the lovely Żarnowiec Upland. The small village (just several dozen residents) is located far from the hustle and bustle, while being close to Lake Choczewskie and popular tourist attractions.
