Today visitors can see the finished central part of the altar, the amber robe of the painting of St. Mary and interesting steel structure of the altar, and accompanying sculptures. The altar was designed by Stanisław Radwański and Mariusz Drapikowski. Besides the altar you can also see other contemporary religious works of art made of amber, such as the monstrance, chalices, ciboria, and other vessels. The entire altar is a kind of a votive offering made by Gdańsk amber workers community for Poland’s independence, regained after the events of 1980 and 1989.
