Pomorskie EuroVelo is part of a much larger network of international bicycle routes. In Pomorskie Voivodeship, you will drive EV routes over a distance of about 700 km. Of the official 17 EuroVelo routes, 3 lead through Pomorskie region.

EuroVelo in Europe
EuroVelo is a network of 17 long-distance cycling routes covering most of European countries. The initiator and guardian of the project is the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) based in Brussels. The ECF team, together with national coordinators, works on building high-quality routes and creates promotional activities related to mobility and cycling tourism. Ultimately, the length of all designated and marked routes in Europe is to be approximately 90,000 km. The trails have dedicated markings. The route number is framed in EU stars, and the whole thing is on a navy blue background. There are plans to prepare and build more trails. A candidate to be part of the EuroVelo network is, for example, route no. 20, which is currently in the design phase in three voivodeships of northern Poland. More about EuroVelo and ECF can be found HERE and HERE.

EuroVelo in Poland
As many as 6 EuroVelo routes run through Poland: EV 2 (Capital Route), EV 4 (Central Europe Route), EV 9 (Baltic – Adriatic), EV 10 (Baltic Bicycle Route), EV 11 (Eastern Europe Route) and EV 13 ( Iron Curtain Trail). Routes No. 10 and 13 in Pomorskie overlap in their course and are often referred to as one route. In accordance with Polish regulations, the European marking of EuroVelo routes is inscribed in an orange square with a bicycle symbol

Pomorskie EuroVelo
The Pomorskie Voivodeship hosts 3 EuroVelo trails in its area: EV 9 and EV 10/13. The construction of the routes is coordinated by the Marshal’s Office of the Pomorskie Voivodeship, and local governments (cities, rural communes, counties) and some forest inspectorates are responsible for their implementation.
Pomorskie Bicycle Routes of International Importance R10 and the Vistula Bicycle Route (R9) project brings together over 40 partners who, using EU funds, carry out investments in the field of high-quality bicycle infrastructure that are part of the EuroVelo network. A detailed map of the Pomorskie EuroVelo routes is available HERE.

EuroVelo 9/ Vistula Bicycle Route
In the Pomorskie Voivodeship, EuroVelo 9 runs along the Vistula Bicycle Route. Its course is, of course, determined by the course of the “queen of Polish rivers” – the Vistula. The natural landscape, cultural heritage and the influence on the history of the area through which it flows are the decisive attributes of this route. The nature of the route is completely different from the EV10/13 coastal route. There is a rather calm atmosphere here with a typical rural climate. The lack of increased tourist traffic, which is observed even at the seaside, affects the perception of the trail in a completely different way and it is a kind of “slow life” active rest.
More about the route HERE.

EuroVelo 10/13
The guiding idea for the EV10 route is the Baltic Sea, and the genesis of EV13 comes from the former borders of the Eastern Bloc countries. The tourist attractiveness here is based on the Pomorskie cultural heritage related to the sea, ethnic diversity of the region and unique landscape values. The symbolism of the fall of communism in Europe is cultivated by the European Solidarity Centre in Gdansk, which gives special meaning to the Iron Curtain Route. The combination of these two topics into one international route makes it a phenomenon on a European scale.
