Le Musée du Château de Kwidzyn

Le Musée du Château de Kwidzyn est situé dans le château gothique du chapître de Pomésanie datant du XIVe siècle.

Il a été inauguré en 1950 après les travaux de restauration nécessaires. Le château possède une riche collection muséale extrêmement intéressante représentant la culture matérielle de la Basse-Vistule (y compris la terre de Kwidzyń, de Susk et de Sztum). Le musée est divisé en plusieurs départements, historique, des armes, d'histoire naturelle, ethnographique, des arts et de l'artisanat. Ses collections historiques, extrêmement intéressantes, comportent notamment une exposition d'instruments de torture médiévaux qui suscitent la peur et une grande curiosité des enfants en raison de leurs noms imagés, comme le violon espagnol, le manteau espagnol, la martre et le tronc, et la hache du bourreau. Un autre instrument de torture intéressant est « l'armoire de Jurand » qui fut mis en scène dans le film « Les Chevaliers Teutoniques ». Les plus anciens objets de la collection sont les armes dites « Bombardes teutoniques » du début du XVe siècle.

Le département de l'exposition d'histoire naturelle du Musée occupe un espace important, et possède notamment des oiseaux rares comme les tétras, l'outarde, le bihoreau gris. Il possède des animaux du nord de la Pologne comme le bison et exotiques, comme le yak tibétain. Il abrite aussi une exposition de squelettes (vous pourrez voir une dent de mammouth) qui font peur aux enfants. Le département ethnographique possède une intéressante collection de meubles polychromes, des collections de céramiques, de coffres, d'armoires, etc. Le département des arts et de l'artisanat présente des meubles fabriqués dans les ateliers d'Elbląg et des sculptures religieuses du XVe au XVIIIe siècle. Les visiteurs peuvent passer la nuit dans les chambres d'hôtel du Château de Kwidzyn, et les jeunes mariés peuvent s'offrir une séance de photographie pour laquelle les paysages du château du XIVe siècle sont un décor idéal.
