The PGE Arena is a modern structure, built with the 2012 European Championships in football in mind, and is the property of the City of Gdańsk. The construction ended in the middle of 2011 and the first official match was played on 14 August between Lechia Gdańsk and Cracovia Kraków. The Amber Arena, as the stadium located in Letnica in Gdańsk is often called, due to its colour, can accommodate 42 thousand fans. The structure is equipped and designed not only for sports events, but also entertainment and cultural events such as concerts, symposiums and congresses. The stadium has a sales and services area, restaurants and food outlets, congress hall and a skating rink and connections to municipal bike routes built around it.
