The crucifix is the town’s most valuable historic complex, and probably one of the most valuable in Pomerania. Founded by Jakub Wejher in the mid-17th Century, as an act of gratitude for the miraculous rescue during the war expedition in Russia. In 1643, he founded the first church in Wejherowska Wola, the Holy Trinity church, and then he brought in the Franciscans and built a monastery for them. The Holy Trinity church was then thoroughly rebuilt in the 18th Century, but the monastic church of St. Anne remained in its unchanged form. The rich interiors mainly date back to the 18th Century. The most valuable element is the painting of the Virgin Mary of Wejherowo (Matka Boska Wejherowska), by the famous 17th Century Pomeranian painter, Andrzej Stech. In 1999, the painting was coronated by the Pope John Paul II. In the church’s dungeons, there is a small Franciscan museum, with the tomb of Jakub Wejher and his family, and his memorabilia.

The heart of the town is the beautiful market square, Wejher Square (plac Wejhera), where the monumental parish church of the Holy Trinity was built in 1755 inon the site of the first church founded by Wejher. The late Baroque altars and church panel are the most interesting parts of the interior. Once a year there is a theatrical play in the collegiate church, where the Bible is read in the Kashubian language. It is read by Danuta Stenka, a famous actress from Kashubia. In the square there is also a town hall from 1908, unique in its architecture, with the room of Wejherowo Tradition and History, with maquettes of the town and the calvary church. In the tower, there is also a bell which dates back to the times of the town’s founder, and, in the central part of the square, there is a statue of the Jakub Wejher himself. Wejherów Old Town, although quite small, is one of the most beautiful in the whole of Pomerania. Clean tenements and alleys give it a unique atmosphere. The Kashubian character of the town is emphasised by the Kashubian Alphabet Trail, marked in the town’s streets with granite boards.

The place of recreation, for residents and tourists alike, is Majkowski Park, where there is the monumental Palace of Przebendowscy and Keyserlingkowie. Currently, there is a Museum of Kashubian and Pomeranian Literature and Music, with interesting exhibits of Kashubian literary heritage.

Wejherowo is also rich in natural attractions. The location of the town is unique, as it is situated in the Reda-Łeba Pre-Valley (pradolina Redy- Łeby), surrounded with forested hills. The picturesque Reda River intersects the town, ideal for canoeing. In the South, there is the Tricity Landscape Park (Trójmiejski Park Krajobrazowy), with numerous pedestrian trails (i.e. red Wejherowo trail-czerwony szlak Wejherowski). In the North, there is Puszcza Darżlubska (the Darżlubska Wilderness). This kind of environment promotes bicycle and horse tourism. There are also Nordic-Walking trails in the town and its neighbourhood.
