They are still one of the most precious natural places of Pomeranian region. A year ago they suffered very much after the hurricane, that left such amount of distraction which were not seen for tens of years here. There are still cleaning activities organised in the forest, some places were totally changed afterwards, nevertheless, Tucholskie Forests are still beautiful and still fascinate the tourists
Nature
Tuchola Forests are one of the biggest forest area in Poland, most of it is part on Nature 2000 Program. Many kinds of animals which cannot be found in other parts of the country live there. Beautiful woods, meadows, rivers and lakes -it’s heaven for those , who appreciate silence, lovely views and nature contemplation. One can admire those by spending time in an active way or appreciating slow relaxation, for example, picking up mushrooms. You don’t need much to be happy – just breathing this pure, clean air to feel the harmony and get the proper perspective to all Your everyday problems. And if lucky, one can see a deer in the distance…

Wielki Kanał Brdy, Chocina or Zbrzyca. No matter if We go for kayaking searching for challenging river of slow family friendly water way – no problem, You will find the water way of such difficulty You are looking for.

If its windy and You dream of a yacht adventure, go for Charzykowksie Lake, for years known for its sailing facilities. In Charzykowy, the town in the Southern part of the lake there is the oldest sailing club in our country where a lot of sailing competitions and sailing camps are organised. On the Northern side of Charzykowskie Lake, in Małe Swornegacie You will also find a marina next to which there is a suspension bridge over the Brda water way.
Cyclists will be in seventh heaven too. Spontaneously improvised bicycle trips down the forest roads may bring a lot of fun (on the condition we have the navigation system). Nevertheless, it is worth to choose one of four, signed lines, so called Kashubian Walkway, that has 200 km in total. The ways were organised along the roads with the trees lines along them, so it if more comfortable and safe.

All kinds of expeditions, in water or the land make us hungry , so it is good to put Zapora place on Your list, which is famous, as the name says from, built in XIX c. dam called Mylof, dividing Brda River into old river and the Great Brda Canal.
Coming there by car, bike of by kayak around Mylof – Brda waterway, We’ll get to Rytel, which suffered most during last year hurricane. That is the place that was in all the news, showing broken like matches big trees. Th scale of damages is enormous, the landscape breaks our hears and on the other hand teaches us the humbleness toward the big power of nature. One thing will never change, the trout form the local breeding is still matchless and invites all the gourmets.
Let’s take all the best form the natural resources which Tucholskie Forests offer us, remembering about the respect towards the Nature and respecting the safety rules. It’s time for the adventure!

We go to the Forests!
One of the biggest forest area in Poland, with the area of 120 hectares in total. With many growing plants which are admired by nature scientists and You need a lot of time to get to know all the plans growing here. It is not a rare thing to meet a dear, a moose, a roe-dear, an inquisitive eye will also find a marten, a weasel or otter, which can be found in Brda River area. Tucholskie Forests is a special place, very natural with many wild areas worth visiting.
Considering recent hurricanes and still forest cleaning activities, we shall recommend you places worth visiting while planning Your trip to this part of Pomerania. We also recommend to stay in touch with Tucholskie Forest National Park and particular forest superintendence for more detailed information.
Charzykowskie Lake
Charzykowskie Lake is treated as the cradle of Polish sailing and has significant part in its history. It is here where the first regatta in the Second Polish Republic were organised and the elimination to the Olympic in 1924 in Paris. Otto Weiland had his first ice slides in Poland on the Charzykowskie Lake, Chojnicki Sailing Club is one of the first here, in 2022 will be celebrating its 100 anniversary.
Charzykowskie Lake is situated in the North – West of Tucholskie Forests , in the area of Zaborski Landscape Park,and it is not the only lake in this region… There are 47 more. Usually, those are small, lakes inside the forests, where You can get walking down the hiking, cycling or nature paths.
Nowadays, Charzykowy is an excellent centre of different kinds of activities including yacht club with very good infrastructure. There are regular sailing activities organised on the lake and the winter season is not the end of it. When the ice is thick enough there are iceboats competition organised there. The two lowly islands on the lake fulfil the landscape: the Island of Love and the Bachorska Island (from the place called Bachorze).

Mylof dam
Mylof is a small but very important village in Tucholskie Forests. This is the place where Great Brda Canal begins, the long system of canals and water engineering facilities built mid XIX c. There is also a dam here which makes the river reach 12 m high!!! It is the only stair dam in Poland.

Aqueduct in Fojutowo
The aqueduct is located on the border of two regions, the Pomeranian and West – Pomeranian. It is an unique example of the hydrologic architecture copied from the Romans’ and it is a crossroad of two water lanes – in the lower part Stuga River and the Great Brda Canal in the upper part. It is 75 m long and it is the only such device in Poland, the water level difference is 11 m. The aqueduct is open for the sightseeing only is special areas.
Pomeranian Stonehenge
Where did they come from? Why they were made? Were they a temple, a calendar or maybe a tomb of ancient tribes? For all these years archaeologists, historians, astronomers and even the biologists were investigating these areas many times, and even though We know a lot about them so far, We still are not sure…. What was the function of those stones? The beginnings of the “Stone Rings” reserve were in 1958 but the rings themselves go bat to the Roman times. Those are the biggest stone rings in Poland and second in Europe when size in concerned. The archaeological excavation proved that that was a cemetery of family tombs
